The colour scheme for this salvage team is based on their deployment on an ice planet with equipment to match. Not camoflaged since they are mostly workers with an attitude, but able to blend in if needs be. Not heavily militarised but pragmatically equipped.

Personally, this is probably my favourite design. All parts of armour, the face molds and the poses are great. Would have been nice with some more “active” poses, but for a kill team its all good. And I refrained from kitbashis these guys too much.

Painting Guide

This guide is only meant as a guideline and is not set in stone. You can replace brands with whatever you prefer. My preference is generally for AK and Citadel paints. All models starts with a Black primer and all highlights are gradual mixes between the previous colours. And note that the entire model got an allover oils wash made from Sansodor and Winsor & Newton Black.

White Armour:

  • Citadel Stormvermin Fur – Base Layer
  • AK Warm Grey – First highlight
  • Citadel Ulthuan Grey – Second thinner highlight
  • AK White (intense) – Last very thin stippled highlight

Used the airbrush to base the models in Stormvermin Fur and follow up with a highlight of Warm Grey for the first highlight. Then switched to brushed for remaining highlights with Ulthuan Grey and AK White. After the oil wash mentioned above I reapplied to the last highlight where necessary.

Undersuit:

  • AK Antracite – Base Layer
  • AK French Blue – First highlight
  • AK Grey Blue – Second thinner highlight

All base colours and layering was down with the brush, again repeating the highlights after the oilwash.

Gloves and boots:

  • AK Smoke Black – Base Layer
  • AK Neutral Grey – Highlight

Faces:

  • AK White (intense) – Zenithal
  • Citadel Contrast – Guilliman Flesh
  • Citadel Contrast – Garahak’s Sever
  • Citadel Contrast – Ratling Grime
  • Citadel Contrast – Basilicanum Grey
  • Citadel Contrast – Wyldwood

Basically I stained faces with Guilliman Flesh and the used others for their beards and hair to differentiate them.
